Sweet Irma

It's all about the Soul this week.

This song and Bettye Swann's 'Tell It Like It Is' are always connected in my mind since I first heard both on a Stateside compilation I know I've mentioned here before.

Sweet Irma. Still going strong and 70 years young in Feb.

  1. 'Tell it like it is' is one of my all time favourites, but I hadn't heard the Bettye Swann version until last night as I was roasting my potatoes, funnily enough.
I made the decision to add more simlar loveliness to my ipod..and you very kindly introduce me to Irma Thomas.

    You're a treasure,

    Thank you

  3. Oh, boy, thank you for these. Bettye and now Irma - I can't see her name without "Time Is On My Side" running through my head. And you've made me dig out my old "Southern Soul Belles" compilation on Charly Records.
