A Pop At The 80s


Our occasional series of extended 80s classics builds into a magnificent library your whole family will enjoy.

This week, another song sort of suggested by the Liverpool book, and one of the first things I remember being excited to find on iTunes before I knew how to computerise my records. This though is a Full Fat, 100% real fruit luxury sound rip from the original 12 inch vinyl. Because I loves ya.

    It's perfect that, I love the second half, so very Kevin.

    The Manics Design For Life was inspired by this, they even got in Mike Hedges in to do the production.

    Mike never gets talked about when it comes to the 80s, but it's always surprising how many 80s greats he produced.

    Didn't know Mike Hedges produced The Cure and Banshees. Shame about the Dido - but then I guess a gig is a gig is a gig.

    There weren't /that/ many records which had me stopping what I was doing and just staring dumbly at the radio when I first heard them, but that was one. Takes me straight back to bedsitland, with all the good times and bad times that that implies. Ta ever so.

    Sweet sherry for me. I'm in shock.

    I'm bereft, bewildered n beleagured - O'Neills have stopped selling Guinness Red in Leeds. (I know, I know, you never believed me that it existed anyway).

    Couldn't believe it when Ginger and I frequented the cod-Irish emporium post work this very evening to see the bar sans Red. "I wish to register a complaint" I said to goatee beardy boy with large silly black disc in one ear lobe. (Not unlike the Ubugu-Agogo Tribe (affiliated) of North-East Borneo).

    "No call for it, chum". Well I'm feckin 'calling for it' you tosser.

    Well that's my story of the blues. Funnily enough, just been playing Gary Moore's song of the same name. His guitar gently wept alreet.

    gosh but i loved wah!. i got my dad to pick me up the shambeko! say wah! single from brady's opposite his works just so he'd have to ask for it and seven minutes to midnight still sounds wonderous. i'll dig that first lp out over the weekend i think for a bit of pomp punk
