As this blog enters its sixth (!) calendar year I become increasingly prone to 'senior moment'-type mallarkey. "Did I tell you the story about me and Cool Jim singing this on the bus back from seeing The Jam at Shepton Mallet Showground in 1982, our jackets soaking with sweat from the mosh pit and - ?"
'Yes Dad (yawn)'.
I even had to double check I hadn't posted it before (don't think so).
Yer tiz then, as they say in Devon.
I shall require a beverage*
The Chi-Lites - 'Stoned Out Of My Mind' (1973)
* not cider, thanks.
105%proof bourbon in front of me so i'm guessing this is the perfect soundtrack. the germs are having a bit of a go so i thought i'd give em a go right back with a bottle of fighting cock as recommended by the fine chaps of gerry's

Not only this blog I think, but possibly over at mine, and maybe over at Lee's and Adam's as well. Still at least the line of drool from the corner of your mouth and eyebogies are virtual here. Pity your better half. Still Thats what children are brought into the world for, cleaning up dad.
ReplyDeleteTune though, no matter how my times I hear it. Theres a good John Holt versh too.
I haven't heard that Smoni - can I borra it ya?
ReplyDeleteUtterly great song
ReplyDeleteYes and I'm sorry it's not rare as hen's teeth or anything, but sometimes you just need to air a classic, knowworramean?
ReplyDeleteIll getcha a copy when I get home, its good, although perhaps not as good as the ones you will know. Its a little sweet in that early 70s way they did for the UK market. Strings and girly backing vocals. I may have the Jamaican mix too though, and that will be grittier and more sparse...
ReplyDeleteYou need to air the classics to jog the memory at our advanced ages...sometimes I almost forget what my various body parts are for. Quite embarrassing at the dentist. Open wide sir.....
ReplyDelete"The hygienist will see you now"
ReplyDeleteLol!
ReplyDeleteTime does go by quick though. Im nearly 3, and Ive just checked, Drews two tomorrow.
Tempus, like the man said, fugit.
ReplyDeleteOk, John Holt's version of Stoned Out Of My Mind in UK release form and Jamaican mix form.

ReplyDeleteI'm off the booze for the mo' 5 days dry..blame it on the Man Flu. Clearing up now, but not in the mood for a scoop in any way.
Good work Simon- looking forward to listening to the Holt versions
ReplyDeleteGrand Simon, just grand.
ReplyDeleteMy dental hygienist is so pretty I always eat a box of oreo cookies in the waiting room.
ReplyDeleteFine song- I will try and dig out another of theirs to play. With one of those their reminisces, natch.
I can't remember which songs I've already posted meself now half the time, and TMAP's only in its fifth calendar year.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out to be the second most downloaded thing on here, after the Garnett Mimms. Give yourselves a round of applause.
