It's my eldest daughter's 8th birthday today. I am taking the day off and we are heading south out of London into the country to row boats along a small river by an old pub, through green fields.
Have you ever seen a kingfisher, except on the telly?
I've never seen a kingfisher, except on the telly.
But still...
"Very beautiful and wonderful things do happen, don't they. And we live most of our lives in the hope of them" (The Railway Children)
No, but I've seen a kangaroo mouse. Only in South Korea. Love this track, in fact, I just might go out and buy 'Ummagumma' again tomorrow. The sound of the bee being swatted at the end is a dream come true.
ReplyDeleteAh, lovely picture. Makes me feel all bucolic inside. Perhaps a decongestant...
ReplyDeleteYes, cough it up Campfires old fruit.
ReplyDelete--
I always hoped it was a nasty horsefly Steve, please don't tell me it was a bee; I love bees.
As for kangaroo meeses - I am sick with envy, sick!
Hello Davy - Ive been very fortunate to see a fair few Kingfishers. But I go fishing on the River Severn (oh my God yes) and there are loads down there.
ReplyDeleteTV! You live!! What's happening with TWWL?
ReplyDeleteSeems they have a view that I spamming. Am on the case but after I came back from hols (3 weeks) I found my internet connection at home is also buggered and BT are going to have to dig up my garden. Oh it never rains .......
ReplyDeleteYikes! Good to have you (kind of) back though TV.
ReplyDeleteBeing an occasional angler I am fairly well accquainted with the Kingfisher. But last year I was lucky enough to have one perch on the end of my rod, while I was holding it! (the fishing rod!). The camera was of course tantalisingly just out of reach. And this was right in the middle of the city of Bristol - albeit a green bit of it.
ReplyDeleteSpeechless!!! That really is proof of the 'Railway Children' quote...
ReplyDeleteClearly I need to get myself down to the Bristol/Severn valley area to get properly Kingfishered; thanks Darce.
Yes I have seen a kingfisher (just.)In France. Bloody thing flew off like orange and blue lightning.
ReplyDeleteBut. Saw a woodpecker in Harlow, where there's more concrete than wood. Does that help, probably not
If The Harlow Woodpeckers were not a plastic punk band circa 1978 then they bloody well should have been.
ReplyDeleteMondo my friend, it is good to meet you.
