Yesterday in London felt like the first real day of spring; the sun didn't just shine, it was warm, and in EC1 I saw a woman sitting outside a cafe/bar sipping at a rosé wine.
I have all the windows open today.
And I've been going crazy for Mingus again; Ah Um. Truly great.
Charles Mingus - 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat' (1959)
now you're talking. we sat in the chelsea physic garden ooohing and ahhhing (they invented forcing rhubarb you know). we kept our coats on obviously.

ReplyDeleteFirst heard this album coming out of a record shop in Greenwich Market. Walked right in, asked the gent behind the counter what it was; bought it on the spot.
ReplyDeleteNot quite as bright this morning but I understand your inspiration to play it again (although, tragically iTunes has overwritten the fabulous original artwork with some (no doubt) more recent reissue picture of the man himself)).
Still...
Cut & paste Fred, cut & paste x
ReplyDeleteI dreamt I met all the bloggers last night. We all had great big walrus mustaches and were wearing pork pie hats. Weird.

proop!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say something I think but the word verification wiped it from my mind. So proop it is. I am convincing myself that it is appropriate.
It was balmy in the north today. -4I think. Nearly took my pork pie hat off in the bath.
ReplyDeleteWhat else happened in your dream Simon? Do tell.
That's -4 I think, not -41, think.
ReplyDeleteWas ally pished?
ally was wearing an old army jacket - one of those sgt pepper style ones. And everyone was eating mince and onions. Might have been quorn mince. I had a pint of guinness that was bright red and JC Vinyl Villain was dancing.
ReplyDeleteDo you always dream in colour Simon?
ReplyDeleteOnly reds and yellows. Like my eyes.
ReplyDeleteGuinness Red. I knew it!
