Memo To Self

Rouse yourself davyh, rouse yourself: you've a load of work to do this week and a charity cycle ride on Sunday and with a brain like stinky soft French cheese and a waistline impacted by same, plus all that Bergerac Rosé, you've much to do to get 'match fit'.

You can start by posting that Midlake song that sounded so good as you swept up the autoroute and make sure you don't fall by the blog wayside as so many around you appear to have done of late: was it all those threats from The Man or did they just get bored? Keep on keepin' on my boy, for autumn's coming and splendid things shall lie ahead if you just believe it, yeah baby.

Midlake - 'Head Home' (2008)

  1. The number of active blogs lately makes me a little sad, a lot of my favourites have gone or are mostly inactive. Its one of the reasons I have been so active lately. So, welcome home old son, hope you had a good hols

  2. We did thank you Simon - it was v. hot & sunny, which is what we were after. I've liked you being active muchly, by the way.

  5. That's me too - stodged out and over-stuffed from holiday booze and food. I've started the soup, salad and no-second helpings diet from today (again). Also no scoops Sunday - Thursday(ish).

Lovely tune from Midlake. Blitzen Trapper's Furr turned out to be a Flatland's favourite. Although The Prodigy's Invaders Must Die did it for ver kids. Funny how we lost the CD afore leaving home , so it was 'headphones only' listening for them

  6. That is funny.

I'm not familiar with Blitzen Trapper's oeuvre Mond, will have to investigate (especially since we're heading into beardy music season now).

word verif = 'nustest' (v. autumnal)

  7. Here you go Black River Killer and Furr. Just the thing for tartan shirts and stout footwear.

  8. Do you know, I've never worn a tartan shirt in my life. Am strangely proud of that actually.

  10. Quite rightly. I will forgive Midlake on account of their intricate, soaring melodies and delicious harmonies.

  11. I've a little bit of beard by way of laziness right now. Hate the thing.

  12. Tartan shirt- check (Ha!) have owned a few, and have one at the moment ready for Autumnal activity.
Beard (bit of a crap one)- check, but coming off tonight due to return to land of work.

  13. Hello Mr Davy and delectable family. Now stop flouncing around the towpath picking berries and carousing with haybails.

Welcome back to the drudgery of mopping the scullery lino, emptying the mousetraps and scrubbing the front doorstep. Clear the grate of raked ashes, and that oven won't clean itself you know. You're weak and spoiled with all that runny fromage and grape fizz.

Fill the tin bath, Vosene the little ones, prepare the porridge pan, polish the shoes, replenish the pencil cases and get an early night.

  17. Welcome back from your hols, trust it was fab.
Spent a few days in Cornwall last week ourselves. Which would be the latest excuse for flirting with the blog wayside.

I have things to post but the fresh air has been winning lately.

And now it's less than an hour from my favourite month.

  18. Flirt not with the wayside, for she will steal thy Soul.

  19. We get autumn in Sale as well you know. Not sure what the activities might be- same as any other time of year probably, just with greater rainfall.
