Blue Monday

'If you like an instrument that sings, play the saxophone. At its best it's like the human voice' - Stan Getz.

  1. Everyone of your monday postings just reminds me of the Rats. I feel sorry for anybody in the coffee shop when you get there.

  2. It's OK Simon, I am the wistful melancholy not shotgun type.

  3. I don't usually go for jazz sax - put off by David Sanborn sound-a-likes in the 80s (usually seen with a stubbly beard - having a honk-off in New York loft apartments). Stan is the exception, his tone is just so pure who can resist. Bizarrely did you know the infamous banned-for-years video nasty The Exterminator comes with a cameo from Stan? He pops up in a Central Park scene and later plays his soothing toots over the closing credits. Clonk this in your Amazon basket, if it’s not already part of the Davy H Jazz Collection
