Nostalgia

Almost a billion people on Planet Earth have no access to clean drinking water.

Which rather puts the Lack Of Opportunity protestations of those who went 'free shopping' for HD TVs, DVD players and Nike trainers in London this week in perspective, for me.

Also, it appears that for most people at last.fm, Weekend are 'a punk/shoegaze/psychedelic band from San Francisco, CA'.  When surely as far as all sensible persons are concerned they are 'a group formed in 1981 by ex-Young Marble Giants’ vocalist Alison Statton, with Simon Booth (guitar) and Spike Williams (guitar & viola)' (I wrote that!).

Truly, the world is a mess.

Weekend - 'Nostalgia (81 demo)' (1981)

  3. Ain't it though.

And yes, thank you D. Though even here some stupid opportunists stoved the window of a sports shop, tried to set light to Homebase and beat up the man at the Texaco for £300.

    I blame Thatcher.

  6. Personally I blame Thatcher for all life's ills. Certainly a lot of her children/grandchildren are complete c**ts. Please excuse the language but no other word apart from fuckwit, which I seem to be using a lot these days comes close.

Never heard of this lot before. I quite like it but it's certainly not shoegaze.

  8. It's the name Davy, it doesn't grab my attention, so I've probably just ignored them before.

  13. Interestingly I found myself agreeing with our glorious leader when he said that Society is sick. What he fails to realise is that it is sick from the top down rather than the bottom up. Which is why he, and all his ilk, will have no idea how to solve it....

  16. No anon, the band I am referring to is Weekend - and they are not terrible either, though I think they could have made a bit more effort to come up with an original name!
