Bob Merrill (lyrics) (1929-1998) also wrote (ahem) 'She Wears Red Feathers (And A Huly Huly Skirt)' - which my Mum introduced me to long, long after its time, on a 7" single they'd kept since the 50s. Thanks Mum!

By Christ, I got some very funny looks from the young women in the office - with their pink Blackberrys, footless tights, £200 handags and Dizzy Rascal stories.
In days gone by, I woulda been embarrassed. Now, I don't give a flying fuck.

ReplyDeleteI used to buy all sorts of odd things when I was about that age - those MFP TV Themes LPs, Rolf Harris, any James Bond music, The Wombles. I'd like to think I'm heading back to the 8 year old sensibilty now actually, in a good way.

ReplyDeleteMy mother live Barbar as well, used to annoy me when I was youn. It was all Barbara, Simon & Garfunkel and Johnny Mathis. It's funny I find myself singing some of these tunes more frequently these days than I ever did, one I didn't even think I knew
and that should have ben Barbara. Teach me to try and add comments in the middle of a meeting.
