This sunny Dawning Of The Age Of Aquarius pop beauty isn't, as far as I know, on any of the Nuggets records - but could be, easily.
It niftily completes our week of similar things (did it reach 22C in London today?) and is further notable for at least two reasons...
1. It culminates in an absolutely shameless rip-off of the 'God Only Knows' outro harmonies
2. Its composer went on to be rather Important and Marvellous.

Strawberry Children - 'Love Years Coming' (1967)

ReplyDeleteThat's a bit wishy washy for me Davy, still it's Friday and I've got a week aff, yah dancer.
ReplyDeleteTonight I intend to get a bit merrily drunk, it's been a long week.
Have a good weekend Mr H
You too Drewster.
ReplyDeletePS: It's 'pop' - 'ya dancer' x
Tonight, on the blogs ...
ReplyDeleteI can hear (Scott Mckenzie's) San Francisco, Alone Again Or and God Only Knows in the same song. What's not to like?
ReplyDeleteSorry my comment's late but I decided to actually write something coherent on my blog for a change and it took a while.
In common with *his* later work, there's lovely pop architecture about it - mind the joists.
ReplyDeleteNo apologies required.
I didn't get the composer without Googling. It's one of those 'obvious when you know it' things.
ReplyDeleteYes
ReplyDeleteI love this kind of song. It kinda sums up my life in 1971.
ReplyDeleteAny road, can't stop. Vermin, shed-dwelling macropods and assorted migratory elks to exterminate.
(Left a note under the milk bottle at Mick's place).
It is, as has frequently been observed, grim up north.
ReplyDeleteI failed the composer quiz ): ...a fun game, though. Have a great weekend, Davy.
ReplyDeleteYou too Mr E.
