Friday Reggae # 30

I've heard a lot of versions of this song, most of them terrible. But I like the Keyboard King's take very much, especially his rare, raggedy vocal.

And look, Camp Freddy came through with the beach record shack pic too!

Cause for celebration all round I'd say.

Is someone going to the bar?

  2. Cheers dear boy - I'm one year the wrong side of 45 on Sunday, and if that don't drive a person to drink I don't know what will. The Pinot's chilling so I'm going to open with a nice cold San Miguel I think. Have a splendid weekend yourself companero.

  3. I'm off to Machrihanish tomorrow with the tribe for a week of doing very little but reading some Christopher Brookmyre and maybe re-reading Fuel Injected Dreams.

May also consume a moderate amount of alcohol.

  9. Back fom the pub. Think I saw the face of Jesus amidst the frothy pineapple chunks of the urinal.

Post Guinness sextet of toasted halloumi sarnies.

Is RAF Machrihanish still going Drew? Sharp end of ops.

Happy 45th for Sunday Davide. Bouncy castle and cake is it?

  11. I think that it still is DVD, at least it was last October when we were in the Wigwams. But seeing as the MOD in their infinite wisdom don't see the need for any RAF bases north of Yorkshire these days it may be for ther chop soon!

Mr H, also accept my best on your upcoming birthday. I will go to the club house at the golf club in Machrihanish, especially for you and raise a pint to your continued good health on Sunday

  12. This song was on my (admittedly fairly notional) Friday Smoothies list, and was also once the title track of a summer compilation I made.

Have a lovely Sunday, I'll be off away by then too x

  13. That horizon doesn't get any straighter, does it. Must have been the piña coladas, old son.

Good luck Sunday. Not far behind, my friend. Who knows where the time goes?...

  14. word veri is cheste tonight. I shall pass no comment.

I'm drinking coffee and listening to Shack (still). Although I was listening to Junior Byles earlier, Curly Locks, which is another minor obsession currently.

    Happy Weekend peeps.

  15. Pina coladas are the perfect juice to serve with or as an elegant breakfast. The pic would be perfect if you had cropped the right side to achieve a better balance overall. I'm sensitive. And whereabouts might be that prime waterfront property if either of you can remember?

Interesting vocal style, mon 'ol mon.

  16. Well you'll find, DD, if you straighten that there damn horizon, it shifts the whole thing rightwards and achieves just such a balance. I have done just the same to my own scanned copy and it now makes some rather nice wallpaper.

I did suggest such a course of action to Master D but it appears he could not be arsed.

I understand your sensitivity. Easily rectified in the modern day of pictorial manipulation.

In answer to your question, I believe this was taken in Negril on the north west coast of Jamaica. Sadly Never did meet Victor.

  17. The horizon of life is sometimes slightly skewed. I like it this way.

  18. Davy, if you're skewed as in wrecked already just because you're still counting birthdays (I stopped counting at 40, which was well over a decade ago according to unhelpful friends present), I rather pity anyone who should happen upon your remains on Monday.

Freddy, you're absolutely right about the pictorial rotation. I feel better, now. His masterfulness surely could have managed it if he wasn't on a bender.

I wonder what Victor might say about Jackie.

  19. Well, if you're still listening DD, I think he would have loved it. Rather subversive in its own small way, don't you think?...

  20. I do think so, Freddy, but all Victor can talk about is how much he wants to know if he can trade his waterfront property for the girl on Davy-as-a-46-year-old's current post. Vic's far away place is lonely.
