Looking down the page, there, I think The Black Dahlia is one of the nastiest books in the world, in a good way, obviously. I've yet to bother with the film because I can't begin to see how they'd get away with it, a bit like American Psycho.
It is absolutely that. I got to the very bad bit today. Near the end. You know the bit. It's utterly brilliant though. Utterly. I'm going for 'American Tabloid' next.
Forgive my plain ignorance, but who is that jangly group with the lovely girly? I've heard the song and her voice before, but it may have been in my living abroad days.
That really is a fabulous song. Remember them playing it in Manchester, getting the intro wrong and starting again. They were the support act for a band I never even stayed to watch.

I often feel as if I've stumbled into just the right car on the train when I peek into your blogs, you incestuous little gang of UK music lovers from the 80s. Thanks ever so much xoxo

ReplyDeleteDick, it is The Sundays featuring Ms Harriet Wheeler and the song is the magnificent 'Can't Be Sure' from 1989 (available on this).
ReplyDeleteAh I'm really jealous of DVD, I'd love to be hearing The Sundays as if they were new....
ReplyDeleteMmmmm m'boys. Dreamy vocals. Late 80s indeed. I was wrestling crocodiles and saving lives whilst on a tricky 3 year tour of ... er, .. Cyprus!
