Aftermath

I couldn't face posting earlier. I took the morning off and went to the Courtauld Gallery to look at the paintings and I had a mooch in the record shops and a wander about town and I tried not to think about the nearly quarter of a million people in the North and North West who voted BNP last Thursday, and tried not to watch the men in suits on the TV today who start off talking so smoothly but become so angry so quickly and the skinhead thugs behind them that say nothing but everything with their dead eyes and all the hate crimes this poison fuels and perpetuates and 'excuses' and the Great British Public on the messageboards unapologetically outing themselves as supporters and 'proud of it'.

  1. I'm feeling a bit like that myself Davy. Although they didn't get in up here I'm still disgusted and a little apprehensive, as they now have a foothold. It's the apathy which really angers me all the people up and down this country who didn't bother their arse.

  2. I know exactly how you feel. Even with everything going on in my life right now me and the wife managed to vote. And yet family members with nothing to do, nowhere to go didn't get off their arses to vote.

  3. It's worth noting that they didn't get any more votes than they did before, its just no one voted for Labour really. Politics is so confusing these days, it used to be so easy.

Griffin did compare himself with Keir Hardie this morning which did catch in my throat somewhat.

PS Love the Stevie wonder track by the way, that took me back.

  4. I've been listening to Stevie a lot today - all that love and warmth and positivism, I need some of that right now.

  5. I'm hoping that their traditional sniping, back-stabbing ways will prevent a far right coalition that could be very damaging. As far as the apathy goes I'm fast coming round to the belief that voting should be compulsory. Abstention is merely a kick in the bollocks for democracy.

  6. I still don’t know the best way to deal with these people. Part of me enjoyed seeing their führer pelted with eggs but it was sickening seeing him on TV playing the victim and complaining about people not respecting the democratic process, so that’s not the answer. Getting them on to a debate programme like Question Time where they can be exposed for what they really are sounds good but gives them a veneer of respectability they don’t deserve.

Course, I couldn't be arsed to vote last week :(

  7. The Fascists didn't get back in in places like Oldham where they got their first foot in the door so probably says everyting about them. Shouldn't have to see them elected to realise what cunts they are though.

And Searchlight et all need to bring their stuff up to date. Scrreaming about stuff that happened a decade ago is too easily dismissed by them, especially when they've got rid of the main bigots.

And people at work saying things like "I'd rather control them inside the political area". Noooooo! We must not be seen to legitimise what they stand for. They must continue to be arrested for their actions outside mainstream politics and be shown up for what they truly are.
