Lightfooted

I didn't even know this existed until the other day when I found it on the YouTube.

It's from, of all things, a Valentines Day CD sold in Starbucks last year.

And since at the moment it couldn't get much gloomier here weather-wise, it'll do more than nicely.

Richard Hawley - 'Early Morning Rain' (2009)

  1. Morning Mr H.

Paul Weller did a rather good version of this on his covers album.

Those Starbucks Valentine's cds were only released in the states. Years ago KEXP kept playing a version of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by Joseph Arthur from the first one, it took me for ever to track it down.

I think I may post it today as can't think of anything else to post.

On the last one there was a rather lovely version of Maps covered by Rogue Wave.

  2. Right. I wondered why I hadn't heard of the CD before. The Hawley-Starbucks link is hilarious; I don't really see him as a double decaff skinny wet latte kinda guy....

  3. Is there bad versh of this tune? I've always been a fan of the Elvis take tucked away here. You can dowload the entire album for £2.79

  4. Gets better with each listen. Better than most of Truelove's Gutter.

  9. I love his version of Hushabye Mountain. Once fell asleep at a Hawley gig - I wrote about it on the Word blog I seem to remember.

  10. Yes, I also stumbled on 'Hushabye' John - he's not done it at any gig I've seen, sadly. And I most certainly didn't fall asleep and miss it. Had you had a hard day perhaps?

  11. How lovely. It seems that one can never be disappointed with a tune form Lord Hawley.
