We could run a competition on how best to describe the bassline on this one; I'm going for 'urgent and pulsing'. It's sure cutting through the gloom today.
Wonderful ! I've been listening to this album a lot in the past week.."Forgetting you" is song of the moment, but Thats What I Want To Know is certainly clearing the fog this morning too.
James Carr's version of the Bee Gees To Love Somebody just popped up on the Pod. Go find it if you can. I may try to post it as a MP3 in the next couple of days. I'd forgotten I had it. Damn fine, with a gorgeous vocal and slowly funky backing.
Wonderful !

Chooglin' - I'd say. Speaking as an ex-bass player, that's one for spread tendons and achy hands. Touch of the I Can't Help Myself 'bout it too.
ReplyDeleteWord Veri - 'weatin'. Which would also sum up
And that voice, man its like thick smooth treacle.
ReplyDeleteAye, tune. A close relative of this - first cousin, perhaps. Chooglin' a go-go.
ReplyDeleteI haven't got the LP Millie - though since I read it's rated one of the greatest soul albums of all time, I clearly should rectify that.
I'd say a bit of a ringer for Temptations, Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, m'self. I wonder which came first??
ReplyDelete'Can't Help Myself'? Four Tops dear heart - 1965.
