You Get What You Give

Right, so. This lot have been lurking in comments, and on me iPo, for the best part of a week. And back in the day, the lead singer was lurking in Miss Ally's supermarket, apparently. Tchh. It wouldn't happen in Waitrose.

Anyway, let's let it all out, eh?

Which is your favourite?

I'm torn between The Orb's and the second part of the Two Parts, chiefly on account of Wobble.

Primal Scream - 'Higher Than The Sun' (American Spring Mix) (1991)
Primal Scream - 'Higher Than The Sun' (Higher Than The Orb) (1991)
Primal Scream - 'Higher Than The Sun (A Dub Symphony In Two Parts)' (1991)

It's all being re-released and re-toured*, blah, you knew that.

*which probably means I'll have to pull this in two days' time.

  1. Bobby Gillespie is 48. That's scary enough. But what's worse is that he used to live by me in London and rode about on a Chopper! The bicycle not the motorbike. A man in his 40s wearing a parka and nipping about on a Chopper, looking for all the world like the star of a Childrens Film Foundation Saturday morning flick, probably about pigeons and burglars.

  2. And just after I type that Primal Scream turns up as the soundtrack to Kellogs Cornflakes.

  4. I've seen Bobby Primal a couple of times oot and aboot. At Dion's Metro gig a three years back (Robert Plant was there too, but I missed him)..and earlier this year spotted him at Spitalfields Market buying an army surplus jacket. A few mins later we got seated behind Sean Lock at the Japanese place there

To my old ears (although not as old Bobby Primal's) this tune. Taking Some Time On- BJH sounds like a template for the Scream's bigger hits (wait 'til the two min' mark).

In the same way this sounds like a template for The Charlatans...

  5. Bobby, your roots are showing!

Have any other readers spied the Scream's lank-haired ex smack fiend in a market, super or otherwise? Was he astride an iconic 70s kiddie velo? Drop us a line at the usual address.
