It's been a heavy old week and next week'll be heavier and away from home (again) but frankly who cares about all that when it's Friday nite and there's wine in the fridge and love in your heart and Change on the record player? I've left three secs of slight crackle-to-silent run-in vinyl at the start of this because I know you like a touch of that.
'Holiday/Celebrate'....hmm, where've I heard that before?
Wicked bass, as I believe the young people say.
Change - 'A Lover's Holiday' (1980)
TUNE!
ReplyDeleteI do like these Friday Disco tunes, very agreeable with the wind down, Gin & Tonic.
ReplyDeleteThree posts in one day, steady on Davy.
Drew
I'm sure it's lovely but Mediafire won't let me have it :(
ReplyDeleteIs this more Luther Vandross?
I don't think he's on this one. I just checked it, seems OK...try again and let me know if not and I'll Fileden it.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you again Michael; and Drew - I know! What am I ON!
But according to last.fm it's now 9.30 and you've switched to the Velvet Underground - that's some comedown!
ReplyDeleteWell, you know, I've had me tea.
ReplyDeleteTune indeed, and Searching and The Glow of Love etc etc.
ReplyDeleteI notice you've been listening to Across 110th Street. Guaranteed to make me cry (Womack's voice can easily have that effect on me).
My 17 year old son and I watched Jools last week. My son who until now has shown no real interest for anything other than modern rock music was blown away by Al Green. All week he has been listening to my Al Green collection and now Bobby Womack too. He's turning into a soul boy!
Darce, you must be very proud - stone me, I'm proud on your behalf!
ReplyDeleteBW? Oh, YES. 'The Poet' is my frequent late night solace.
btw I like the jaunty angle of your vinyl piccies (the piccies of your records not your piccies made out of vinyl.. oh you know what I mean). I may have to steal that idea if that's ok?
ReplyDeleteThe nerve!
ReplyDeleteyour disco and my funk....what a NIGHT! whew! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteAlways loved this song, but was never able to track it down. My only copy is on a TDK-C90 from Tony Blackburn's Top 40 of about July 1980 - he said it was sensational, a word he often used, but in this case, he was right.
