I don't think words are necessary here x

  1. I got another copy of Geek Love today, mint 99p in Oxfam Music, up to Fopp and the complete Twin Peaks for 18 quid. A bottle of Meursault chilling in the fridge and a couple of fillet steaks just about to hit the griddle pan. So I am feeling nice and mellow.

I know i'm a philistine having white wine with beef but that's me.

  2. It was lovely to find this again. I have it on an old VHS tape of an Arena programme about her from about 1985 - always thought it extraordinary. And what an ensemble!
In order of play the soloists after Billie are...Ben Webster, Lester Young, Vic Dickenson, Gerry Mulligan, Coleman Hawkins, Roy Eldridge: each and every one of them in his own way, and without exaggeration, a legend.

  3. Can I swap you that for this (ignore chummy on the intro)..

And this where I've never seen stand up bass played so percussively. (Blues-writing ledge, Willie Dixon on bass)

  4. Ah Mond, you're on my wavelength with those baby. Hope the head's better now. Saw you on the abortive Frasercam from last night!

  6. Really I made the camcast - hope I had a drink in my hand? Was I chewing someone's ear off?

  7. It was from very early on I think. Camera was pointing down from on high towards fairylit mirror above fireplace. You arrived, all POW suit and rooster do, looked at a bit of a loss, started exchanging pleasantries with a bloke with glasses. Soon after, footage ended.

  8. Dickie's not checked in this weekend Mr H? It will be really cold in that shed. Getting a bit concerned.

  9. If it was a short bloke in a dark top, may have been David Hepworth, we were nattering on about the blues documentaries Channel 4 used to show (85ish) just after Countdown and a Blues night on BBC 2 (85ish) which featured a clip of a chap singing something I've never forgotten, but never found anywhere since. 'They call me M.O.N.E.Y' (have got it on VHS though.)

Also punted this clip his way (90 year old woman playing guitar upside down - gtr upside down not old dear) and got the official Hep thumbs up today

  11. Sadly, no D - just back from the primary school Christmas Fair having manned the door for 3.5 hours. All good though. Soon I will have feeling back in my feet again. Potato Roasting Music will return next Sunday, all being well.

DVD - please call, we are worried sick.

  12. You got the Christmas fair job right Davy- count 'em in, not much small talk, no disappointment at losing games to deal with, and they don't stop to chat on the way out cos they want to get home. Perfect. Not that I'm a miserable curmudgeon who hates small talk with people I sort-of-know or anything.

  13. Dang, but that is just mighty fine! And the notes that Monsieur Eldridge hits are extraordinary...

  14. I love everything about it. I've watched it so many times over the years. It's just - *sigh*
