A Case Of Mistaken Identity
According to my Last FM thingy, in the last hour I have played tracks by Avantasia, Jonathan Larson, Danny Elfman and, horror of horrors, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
This is news to me, since I do not own music by any of these people, so it is at once a falsehood, a scary technical development (Last FM is supposed to link straight to your iTunes) and in the case of the Lloyd Webber, surely a deeply defamatory assertion likely to compromise my good reputation.
Curse of curses, I can't even delete this stuff from my 'Recent Tracks' list for the moment. (I have now - phew)
Has anyone else had this happen?
And if it were to, what would be the worst artist Last FM could ascribe to your listening pleasure?

Yes it's called Identity Fraudio.
ReplyDelete*does a 'tah dah' fanfare on a banjo and passes round the hat*
At least at wasn't anything by Yanni or a soothing tune from the 'pan pipes' catalogue.
Oh Gaaad, I hate pan pipes.
ReplyDeleteho ho ho my evil plan is working - soon the only good tunes will be mine MINE MINE

World domination eh? The same old dream. You'll never get away with it Sevens.
ReplyDeleteID fraud on the iTunes is bad enough, but it would be worse if somebody could take over your iTunes and replace all your favourite songs with something nasty. So you think you're about to play Jackie by Scott Walker and what you actually hear is...mmm-bop or whatever it was called by hanson.
ReplyDeleteWorst.Song.Ever. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
Did I mention I hate it? ;)
Didn't they later attempt a comeback as a 'serious' band? No shame.
ReplyDeleteChris de fucking Burgh - The Lady in fucking Red
ReplyDeleteEeeughhggghhh!
Sex, sex, sex, that's all you think about.
ReplyDeleteAnd leave that Welsh tart alone.
'Nothing's gonna stop us now" by Starship.
Simon and the Taylor Boys.

ReplyDeleteYou're gonna make me say it!

i need a drink.
DOH! Sorry, was being obtuse.
ReplyDeleteCeline Dion. Clearly.
ReplyDeleteOh God yes, clearly.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I never bothered with Last FM, Davy.
ReplyDeleteHello! Hope you don't mind me stopping by. It's annoying isn't it? Apparently the artist I listen to all the time is Prince. This is news to me too. I've listened to him zero times in the past 2 months (not because I don't like him mind you) but you know. I've been listening to a lot of Richard and Linda Thompson but according to Last FM thingymajiggy, I'm not a folkie at all. OK, have it your way.
ReplyDeleteGo figure, as they say. But stop by anytime RE.
ReplyDeleteIt's really quite fun Steve, and I've heard lots of new things since signing up to it. I may need therapy because of the Lloyd Webber slur though.
Noting wrong with Mmmm Bop, if one really likes pop. And the pan pipes on Ennio Morricone's "Once Upon A Time In America" soundtrack are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGood calls on Celine and Chris de Bleurgh. Others I'd hate to be associated with me would include Michael Bolton, P Diddy, Kid Rock and Boyzone/Ronan Fucking Keating. But I'll go for the unspeakable Anastacia.
Mind, after my latest themed mix-CD, I;'m glad I don't have Last-fm screwing around on my iTunes. The Brady Bunch, Shaun Cassidy or Barry Blue would no enhance my street cred if my reasons for playing them was not placed into context. I'd be happy to endorse the Partride Family's "I Just Fell In Love This Morning" and the Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night" though.
